Frequently Asked Questions
How long are sessions?
The first session is usually one hour. This is an assessment session where I get to know how your child communicates. Further appointments are 30—60 minutes depending on what we are focussing on. I will always let you know how long I think our next appointment will be.
How often are sessions?
This can vary depending on what we are working on, the type of support your child needs, and your family priorities. Different families prefer different levels of support. Sessions could be weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. As I get to know your child’s needs, I can give more specific recommendations.
How long will my child need speech language therapy?
This varies depending on your child’s type of speech language difficulty. As we work together, we’ll talk about goals and progress. I’ll let you know if I think a break, or finishing up would be good and you can do the same.
Do parent’s/caregivers need to be there?
On a home visit, an adult needs to be present for the session. This is so that we can talk about how your child is communicating in the moment, and how you can help them in everyday life.
When are your appointments?
I offer appointments Monday–Saturday (though not all day everyday). I have a small caseload so I can offer flexible times and days.
